In the early 1980s, CPA Australia and Deakin University entered into a ground-breaking agreement to develop an exciting and innovative distance education program for professional accountants. Some 30 years later the partnership has not only endured the test of time, but continues to deliver quality outcomes.
In a move that further strengthens the relationship, Deakin and CPA Australia have recently signed a 10-year agreement to develop and design learning material for the CPA Program professional level.
Over the years, Deakin has worked closely with CPA Australia to provide bespoke design, delivery and assessment services for candidates completing the CPA Program. DeakinPrime CEO, Simon Hann, describes the relationship as ‘an outstanding example of two organisations coming together and using their distinctive strengths to create an innovative learning experience for accounting professionals’.
‘Best practice and a commitment to innovation have been central to the relationship. At present we are working closely with CPA Australia to ensure candidates have access to new and emerging technologies. The aim is to continue to provide more engaging and flexible approaches to learning now and into the future.’
‘CPA Australia has always set high standards for the development of their learning materials, and we have met and exceeded those standards through the enthusiasm, talents and commitment of CPA Australia and Deakin professional staff that have worked on the program over an extended period.’
CPA Australia chief executive, Alex Malley, describes the new agreement as ‘an important milestone in a long and enduring relationship that has helped underpin CPA Australia’s growth and international leadership’.
‘Today, CPA Australia is one of the largest accounting bodies in the world, with 19 offices globally and more than 150,000 members. The CPA designation is globally recognised and our members are respected as a leading voice for the business, finance and accounting professions in the 121 countries in which they work. ‘
Great business partnerships do not happen by accident. As Simon Hann puts it, ‘our partnership with CPA Australia has thrived due to constant engagement and communication, and a genuine commitment to deliver a quality professional licensure program. Everyone within Deakin and CPA Australia looks forward to continuing the relationship and meeting shared goals for many years to come.
