Simon is the CEO of both DeakinDigital and DeakinPrime. His extensive experience in the online education sector has been primarily focused on the innovation and commercialisation of new approaches to learning, credentialing and associated technology. His comprehensive knowledge of how learning and development relates to the corporate world are combined in this role, creating an invaluable skillset in the evolutionary digital age.
In 2000, Simon raised seed capital to establish Aframe, a start-up eLearning business, disrupting the traditional classroom-learning environment. He built the organisation over a seven year period before selling it in 2007 to Salmat, an ASX listed company. He was subsequently appointed Chief Executive Officer of Salmat eLearning prior to joining DeakinPrime in 2012.
During his time at DeakinPrime, Simon has transformed the business to offer people capability development solutions that enhance the performance of individuals and the organisations they work in.
DeakinPrime is recognised as a thought leader in using a design thinking approach to develop highly-effective blended learning programs that embrace the 70:20:10 framework.
Simon was appointed as CEO of DeakinDigital in 2016. He was bought on board to execute a dynamic growth model, and bring the organisation to new levels, with a strong operational focus. DeakinDigital is a wholly owned subsidiary of Deakin University.
He is currently President of the eLearning Industry Association of Victoria and on the Board of Learning Seat, the leading provider of online compliance training in Australia. Simon holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment (Securities Institute of Australia), Bachelor of Laws (University of Melbourne) and a Bachelor of Commerce (University of Melbourne).
